Re: 2012 Summer Season

The Alexandria Area Soccer Association Board would like to share with you exciting news regarding the 2012 season! After thoughtful consideration we have decided to transition to tournament-only teams for ages U12 – U19. The U10 teams will remain playing Rec Plus in the Northwest District.

We’d like to share the key reasons why this decision was made

· Allow our players to have a better soccer experience by giving them the opportunity to play more teams as well as teams of a higher caliber

· Build stronger players and competitive teams by developing their skills through a consistent practice schedule during the week

· Less driving for parents overall with traveling to three – four tournaments versus driving two to three days/nights each week during the season

· The Northwest District has experienced a drop in the number of teams playing in the District which has limited the number of different teams we play during the season

What does this look like for the U12-U19 teams?

· Regular practices held two times per week with emphasis on skill development and conditioning

· U12 – U14 will participate in three tournaments with the opportunity for friendly games with neighboring towns

· U16 – U19 will participate in four tournaments

· The goal is that the teams would play at the same tournaments allowing families to travel together

Questions?

If you have any questions regarding the transition feel free to contact Shawn Thelen at 320.760.6707 or any Alexandria Area Soccer Board member. We look forward to a season of growth and opportunity for our players and teams!
